Multimedia Communications

Course Description Computers have dramatically changed the way we live and work.  Large and small businesses now use computers to accomplish much of what they once had to pay someone else to do.

Desktop publishing, web site design and maintenance, e-mail and e-commerce are just a few of the ways in which businesses use computers to communicate with co-workers, suppliers, clients and customers in a global market place.

Multimedia Communications is a one-year program that teachers students to apply problem solving skills to real life situations through advanced integrated software applications, including multimedia presentations, printed and electronic publications and web site development.  Students work individually and in groups to explore advanced computer maintenance activities, telecommunications, programming and networking.

Characteristics A good math background is desirable for Multimedia Communications students, as well as completion of business courses, particularly those involving keyboarding skills.  Finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, patience, logical thinking skills, attention to detail and an artistic flair are important to success in this field.  Students with an interest in graphic arts or journalism might finds this program helpful.
