Garden Pot Angel

Clay Pot Garden Angel - Beginner Level Project A wonderful addition to any garden, easy to make & can keep indoors too! Add little welcome sign that reads "Bless Our Garden" or something similar.

  • 4 Clay pots (choice of size - 1 large, 1 medium and 2 small)
  • 3 Grapevine wreaths; one for halo & 2 for wings (should be same size as wood ball)
  • Spanish Moss
  • Sheet Moss
  • Miscellaneous Floral Embellishments
  • Mini watering can
  • 2 Wood Shaker Pegs or similar pieces for arms.
  • 1 wood ball for face
  • Hot glue
  • String, jute or other small rope
  • Household or Crafter's Goop Glue (E6000 or other silicone based glue is fine)
Grapevine wreaths are usually round & for wings, need to shape these in oval shape, so they extend out from behind angel. Shape 2 wreaths by soaking in warm water til complete saturated & gently bend to oval shape. Wrap rubber bands or string around wreath to hold oval shape & allow to dry. If wreath used as halo isn't perfectly round, soak wreath in water as well & place over round mold, such as drink glass & allow to dry. While drying, glue (Household Goop) med pot to lg pot. Glue med pot, centre on bottom of lg pot. Place strand of string across bottom of med pot (centred), allow enough excess string to fit thru small clay pots with few inches more (this helps support arms). Glue on top of string, wood ball & allow glue to dry complete before handling. Feed string on one side thru one small clay pot & hot glue clay pot in place on med clay pot. Repeat this for 2nd arm. The help secure arms (should hot glue release from clay), hot glue wooden spindle to inside of small clay pot, make sure string is glued to both wood piece & clay pot at inside bottom of small clay pot. Refer to photo, cut piece of sheet moss to form apron. This extends up & over bottom of lg pot & end just below bottom of med pot. For apron straps, cut 2 teeny pieces of moss & glue in place. Hot glue sheet moss in place, make sure you apply plenty glue to back area of sheet moss. Hot glue little spanish moss top of wooden ball for hair. Hot Glue embellishments to wreath (halo). Can use small flowers, leaves & small bird. Glue halo to angel's head. Hot glue to waist area. Glue watering can to large clay pot & to end of arm. Can use little copper wire to secure watering can to hand as well as glue. Tie small bouquet of flowers together & glue bouquet to lg clay pot & wrap tie around hand to help keep bouquet from falling. Glue 2 little buttons or teeny ribbon roses at bottom of apron straps & any other embellishments. Little heart on chest is simply plastic button. Can add little sign post that reads "Bless this Garden" or something similar. To paint face, use markers, pencils, paint or any similar item. Use oil pencil crayons & draw lines to create eyes & mouth. Nose is little "U" shape & little red is added for cheeks. Don't need face painted, but looks much prettier with face. For painted parts, be sure to apply varnish or polyurethane to protect against moisture. Give sheet moss little spray of water & you're all done.
