SUMMARY
Over twenty-eight years experience in manufacturing. Titles held include
Lineman, Chemical Blender Operator, Set-Up Technician, Injection
Mold Repairman, CNC/WEDM Machinist, Group Leader, and Department Manager.
I have lead problem solving task teams focused on reduction of manufacturing
costs and the increase of productivity and efficiency. My communication skills
were proven when writing and instructing in-house
training seminars in
safety and electro-chemical brush plating.
EXPERIENCE
2000-Present
Machinist - Master Machine & Tool Co. - Newport News, VA
Responsible for the manufacture of machined parts working from blueprints
using a variety of machine tooling. Focus mainly on CNC mill and lathe work
including programming, set-up, operation and inspection. Beginning 9/2000,until 9/2001
jobs were limited to CNC lathes. Operate 2 Daewoo lathes (Fanuc control),
one of which has live tooling. This allows the incorporation of milling
processes within the lathe set-up such as slot milling, off-center and side
hole drilling and tapping and 4th axis movements to name a few.
Company purchased Agie Classic 3H Wire EDM machine July 2001 and I was
selected to train and operate the new technology. Completed Agievision
Certificate, September 2001. Completed in-house training of FeatureCam
programming software and helped debug post-processor
files to interface with current CNC Machinery.
Solely responsible for all the programming, set-up, maintenance
and manufacture of WEDM machining since 2001.
1997-2000
Machinist - Action Tool Service - Hampton, VA
Responsible for the manufacture of machined parts working from blueprints
using a variety of machine tooling. These include Haas CNC milling machines,
surface & cylindrical grinders, Bridgeport mills, and engine lathes. Also operated
machines in a production setting to include milling and grinding castings and
have the capability of modifying CNC programs and set procedures to produce
optimum output while maintaining quality and safety standards. Capable of
working within very close tolerances.
1994-1997
Department Manager - American Window & Glass - Evansville, IN
Responsible for one manager, two supervisors, and forty employees in the
production of insulated glass units in a vinyl window manufacturing company.
Reporting only to the General Manager, I was given additional tasks and
projects that encompassed research, development and implementation of new
equipment, processes and procedures. I became certified in Total Quality
Management while attending classes at the University of Southern Indiana.
1986-1994
Mold Repair Technician/Machinist - Sunbeam Plastics - Evansville, IN
Responsible for the maintenance, repair and modification of injection tooling
and many other machinery repair tasks. Operated engine lathes, vertical and
horizontal milling machines, surface and cylindrical grinders, EDM, TIG and Arc
welding. Certified in the application of electro-chemical brush plating processes.
Trained and experienced in the operation of coordinate
measuring equipment.
Have the acute ability to analyze and troubleshoot most problems associated with
injection and machine tooling and equipment repair. Thorough understanding of
polymer science and plastic processing. Experienced in job planning and
supervising in a group leader setting.
1979-1986
Set-Up Technician - Sunbeam Plastics - Evansville, IN
Responsible for debugging and set-up of plastic injection molds in a forty press
operation ranging from 75 to 450 tons. Experience with IMPCO, Reed, Husky
and Stokes injection presses as well as Rainville and Jomar injection blow
molding presses. Full knowledge and skill of operating all sizes of walking
and riding forklift trucks, platform lifts and multi travel bridge cranes.
Was hired at Sunbeam to begin a formal Set-Up Department.
1976-1980
Set-Up Technician - Evansville Plastics - Mt. Vernon, IN
Duties similar to the aforementioned with the exception that this was a extrusion
operation. Experienced in the operation of single and twin screw Cincinnati Milacron
extruders. Responsible for the production of quality PVC water pipe meeting rigid
NSF specifications. Also very knowledgeable in PVC chemical compounding.
