Baring it All (part 52)
Caught
Danesha heard the struggle and Marissa's screams and came rushing into the living room as Travis' punch knocked Billy onto the porch. She saw Marissa lying on the floor bleeding and ran to her.
"Rissa, Oh God! Rissa!" she cried.
Danesha ran to the kitchen and grabbed a towel then came back and covered Marissa's wound with it. She held it tightly to her trying to stop the flow of blood. She held Marissa in her arms and cried and prayed.
Several minutes later Travis came rushing back inside; his hand was bleeding as he ran to Marissa.
"Oh my God, D! Is she still alive?" he asked.
Danesha felt Marissa's neck and detected a faint pulse. She nodded her head.
"Call an ambulance Travis! We've got to get her some help."
"They're on the way. The officer outside called them on his radio." He said
Danesha suddenly noticed the flashing blue lights outside and heard an ambulance siren in the distance.
"Where's Billy? Did they catch him?" She asked
Travis dropped his head. He was ashamed to admit that Billy had overpowered him and ran off down the street being chased by the cops.
"No D, he's still out there somewhere." He said solemnly.
"No, he's not. He's in custody."
They both looked up as Tori stepped into the doorway.
"Tori?! What are you doing here?" Danesha asked.
"I'm sorry, I should have told you my suspicions earlier but I had to check something out to be sure." He said
Tori explained that he had suspected Billy when he'd heard the murder weapons were Titan hunting knives. He said his behavior earlier had also been suspicious.
"Someone came into my uncles shop with a set of those knives about 3 months ago. They are very rare and very expensive and we couldn't afford to give them what they were asking for them, so I recommended Billy's pawnshop." He said
Tori had decided to ask Billy if he'd bought the knives from the customer but when he dropped by his house Heather had said he was out on business.
"I knew I needed to get over here and was praying it wasn't too late. Thankfully I turned the corner as he was running across the street and he stumbled right over my hood."
The paramedics arriving at the door interrupted Tori's story.
One of them bandaged Travis' hand as the others worked on Marissa. Tori offered them all a ride to the hospital and they followed the ambulance to the hospital.
