Baring it All (part 48)
Hard to say Good-bye
I held onto Danesha's hand as we stepped out of the white stretch limousine at the cemetery. I slowly walked with her to the grave as Travis dressed in his ministerial robe read from the Bible. Danesha had wanted a small graveside service for Sheila. She didn't think she could stand anything big or too formal. She'd also insisted that we all wear white instead of black since that was Sheila's favorite color. She had chosen a white casket trimmed in pink and had dressed Sheila in her favorite white leather dress. She'd wanted her to look as fabulous and sexy in death as she always did in life.
She had called Sheila's family but they had refused to attend or assist in the arrangements. They had put Sheila out at 15 and were still very bitter. Danesha had not let that stop her from honoring Sheila's memory and their love.
As Travis ended the short sermon we all stood to recite the Lord's Prayer. Danesha placed two roses on Sheila's casket, a white one for friendship, and a red one for love.
We all returned to the limousine and headed back to Travis' house. The police car Detective Sellers had promised followed closely behind us.
Granny had stayed behind to watch the house and organize the food that people had dropped by for the 3 of us as well as the rest of the club employees, family and friends.
When we all had plates and were seated around Travis' living room it didn't take long before the conversation turned to the murders and who could be behind it.
"I thought for sure Claude's ass was guilty as sin." Danny said.
"So did I." Tori added. "I told the police everything I saw but it turns out he was in mid-town being interviewed by a traffic cop while Monica was being murdered." He said
"The scary part of is that Marissa or I could be next unless this person is caught and soon." Danesha said.
"I won't let that happen D. I promise you both, you will be safe here." Travis said.
"For how long Trap? You can't just hide us in this house indefinitely." Danesha answered.
"She's right you know, at some point and time we are gonna have to get back to normal and back to the club." Marcus said.
Danesha and Marissa looked at each other. Neither of them had told Marcus that they were not planning to return to the club, but this didn't seem like the time or place to bring it up.
"How soon do you plan on re-opening Marcus?" Maurice asked. "I'm not rushing you in this tragedy but my pockets are sagging." He said.
"I understand Maurice and honestly I think that the sooner we get back to business as usual the easier it will be to deal with the loss we are all feeling." He answered.
"I agree with you Bossman. Just let us know when and we'll be there. I was also thinking that maybe we should beef up security, hire a couple more guys, to make the ladies feel safe." He said.
"Thanks Danny, I've got interviews for dancers next week but I'll call in an ad to the paper for bouncers tomorrow." He answered.
Billy was standing near the kitchen quietly listening to the exchange. He was only here because Heather had insisted on coming. She and Sheila had been good friends she'd told him and she wanted to pay her respects. Billy wanted to go home. He hated being in the same room with Marcus and he could not believe they were sitting there talking about going back to business as usual after everything that had happened.
Billy went over and told Heather he was ready to go. She said good-bye to everyone and they left. Marcus probably will not be happy until all of his dancers are dead Billy thought as they drove away.
