Baring it All (part 44)
Number 3
Sheila arrived home a few hours later. Maurice had offered her the opportunity to spend the night but she had declined. She had gotten what she went out for and now she just wanted to sleep in her own bed. She got out of her car and walked into her building.
She didn't notice him watching her as she unlocked her door and went inside.Sheila quickly took off her dress and boots. She put on her favorite terry cloth robe and checked the messages on her machine.
The light was blinking 4 messages. Sheila turned the knob and sat down to listen.
"Sheila!, Why did you hang up on me? That was rude. I don't understand why you are so upset with me. I am just..."
Sheila cut off the message. She was not in the mood to hear the new independent Danesha lecture her about being rude. She moved to the next one.
"Sheila it's me again. Where are you? Pick up if you're there honey."
Sheila smiled. That was the D she loved. She could hear her beginning to weaken. She knew hanging up on her was harsh but she had to keep D in check. She quickly skipped to the next message.
"Okay Sheila, you win. I'll be home tonight." Click.
Sheila laughed triumphantly. She knew how to get to D and was glad she'd be home soon.
She pressed play for the last message as a knock came at her door. Sheila grinned, D must have forgotten her keys again. She quickly opened the door without checking the peephole.
Sheila died instantly the first stab severed a major artery. As her body lay lifeless on the floor surrounded by blood the last message on the machine played.
"Hey, Sheila it's D. Uhm. I changed my mind it's so late. I'll be home in the morning. I love you."
