Baring it All (part 37)
More Tragedy
Tori parked his car in the lot. He wasn't sure if this was Monica's address but it was what Marcus had given him when he called the club. He got out locked his Jeep and walked into the lobby.
Claude ran by him so fast he barely recognized him. Tori had heard that he and Monica lived together but Claude was gone so fast he didn't have a chance to question him.
He took the elevator up to Monica's floor and got out. What he saw as he walked down the hall shocked him. He stood still for several minutes trying to catch his breath. Tori considered himself a strong man but he had to struggle to keep from heaving all over the floor.
Monica lay in the hallway in a puddle of her own blood. Tracks of blood were splattered all over the hallway. Tori thought of getting closer to check for a pulse but he knew it was no use. She was definitely dead. He pulled out his cell phone and quickly dialed the police.
Two hours later he was sitting in a small office at the police station fielding questions. Tori told them about the rings Monica had pawned.
"Why didn't you just call the police Mr Shane?"
"I didn't think it was necessary the girls were friends, I thought there might be a simple explanation." He said
"Are you sure it was Claude Rivers you saw running from the building?"
"Yes, sir. It was definitely him. I've seen him at the club a few times."
"Is that Chocolate Paradise, the strip club where you and the victim worked?" Detective Sellers asked
"Yes, sir."
After a series of more questions they finally told Tori he was free to go. He hurried home needing the comfort of Jonelle's arms.
