Robert C. Casper, teacher and coach at Oscar Smith High

VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert C. "Bobby" Casper, 46, of the 600 block of Whispering Willow Court, died April 23, 1992, in a hospital.

Mr. Casper taught social studies at Oscar Smith High School, Chesapeake. He was also head coach of the track team and assistant coach of the football team. He was a former teacher, wrestling coach and assistant football and track coach at Bayside High School.

He was born in Norfolk. He was a 1964 graduate of Oscar Smith High School, where he was a standout on the football team. He played on the city all-star team his senior year. He was a graduate of Northwood University, Midland, Michigan.

In 1990 he was inducted into the Chesapeake Sports Hall of Fame.

Mr. Casper was a member of Courthouse United Methodist Church, Chesapeake Coaches Association, Virginia High School League, Outer Banks Fishing Society, and Cripple Minnow Society.

Survivors include his wife, Karla Lawrence Casper, two daughters, Cindy M. Casper and Caroline P. Casper, both of Virginia Beach, his parents, Mary W. and E.C. Casper, and a sister, Brenda A. Casper, all of Chesapeake.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, by the Rev. Bruce Tuttle. Burial will be private. Friends may join the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the funeral home.
