Region B, Div. 2 seedings "mistake"
When calculating the final ratings average using the procedures outlined in
the VHSL Handbook, Gretna finished with a 24.2222 while Clarke Co. had a 24.20.
But the VHSL spreadsheet only goes to 1 decimal place, which created a tie,
and Clarke won the tiebreaker by having a higher win %.
When contacted, the VHSL refused to correct the seedings and give Gretna the
#1 seed, because 'that's the way it's always been done'.
Winning at multiple levels
Chris Jones became at least the 3rd head coach to win a VHSL playoff game
in all Groups : Bath Co. (2000,1*), Heritage (2002*,3,7) & Franklin Co. (2009)
Who else has accomplished this tri-fecta?
Larry Smith : Honaker (1977), Abingdon (1984) & Halifax Co. (1991*)
Mickey Crouch : Altavista (1989), Amherst Co. (1995*) & Amherst Co. (1998)
Crouch also led Liberty Christian to the Va. Ind. School Div. II title in 2004,
and put Eden Morehead in the NC 3-A playoffs 2005.
