Richlands info for Liberty fans

At the speed limit, Salem Stadium to Richlands is about 2 1/4 hours,
so figure about 3 1/4 hours driving time (or almost 30 minutes past
Graham, for those of you who made that trip).

Take 81 South to Wytheville, then 77 North to near Bluefield.
Get in right lane in the 2nd tunnel - you have to exit almost
immediately onto a stiff, uphill ramp. 25 MEANS 25 here, folks
(It's worse than any of the Salem on/off ramps).

At top of ramp, turn right onto US 52 for a couple of miles.

OLD TIMERS NOTE : The 52/460 interchange has been 'upgraded'.

Watch for 460 sign to Tazewell and/or Bluefield (DO NOT take
the first right exit towards Princeton). Stay on 52 OVER 460
THEN exit right downhill 5 stories onto 460/19, which then
climbs back 4 stories to the stop light. SUPER LONG merge lane
here. Stay on 460 about 20 minutes to Pounding Mill, where the
speed limit drops to 45 before the Wal-Mart.

Unless you want to stop at the Wendy's up ahead on the left, you've
got 1 mile to get into right lane. At the traffic light at the top
of the hill, left lane is US 19 and goes straight, while right lane
is 460 and "EXITS" right to Richlands as a "ramp" - no light here,
but be careful - there's a Waffle & Egg & a hotel just around the
corner on the right.

Go down the hill 2.2 miles. You'll exit right just past the bridge.
MERGE right onto Bus. 460 at the bottom of the ramp and you'll
circle back under the bridge.
Ernie Hicks Stadium is just over 1/2 mile ahead on the right.

After the game, I'll have scores of other hs & college games every
half-hour on 105.5 FM - Richlands.

If you can't make it, listen to the game via the internet @ wgth.net

--- If you're thinking about coming in on 460, maybe take that route
on the way back. The Westbound lanes from Blacksburg to Princeton
include - a long mtn., a couple of miles of twisty road along a cliff,
and a mtn. that starts in a 45 mph (I think) zone.
Eastbound is a lot better - but watch for the 20 mph drop near the
bottom of a mtn. ---

		Restaurants

Past Wal-Mart on 460/19, there's a Wendys on the left and a mini-McD's
on the right in the gas station past the motel.

At the light, there's a Waffle & egg on the right.
At the next light, you can turn left up to the Mall for Italian Village,
which is inside on the back wall near K-Mart, or Subway, just inside
   the middle entrance.

On down 460 on the right is a Pizza Plus.
On past the stadium entrance is Long John's & a mini-Taco Bell on the left
and Pizza Hut on the right.

On 460 bypass past the stadium

Next exit, 1.6 miles away has a Hardees. Turn left at bottom of ramp.
Go about 1/2 mile. At the light, turn right onto Bus. 460 (2 lanes, 1 way).
Hardee's is ahead on the left.

1.3 miles further down, turn left at the 1st light onto Bus. 460 for
Mc'Donalds, Burger King & Wendy's on the left.

At the next light down, turn left, then left again, for Shoney's.

Go another mile down 460 to KFC on the left (about 4 miles from the stadium).
NO U-turn is allowed here. Turn left down US 67, then make another
left through the Exxon parking lot to get back onto 460.
