2003 master schedule corrections
IF YOU'VE DOWNLOADED THE VHSL MASTER SCHEDULE :
Did you know that a CORRECTED master schedule was posted Aug. 4th? And again on Aug. 11th?
Will ANOTHER version be posted?
After going through Regions III, IV, C & D, and their out-of-state opponents,
here are Aug. 4th changes I found :
Oct. 3 : Christiansburg at Salem is now Oct. 10th.
Oct. 3 : Honaker at Rye Cove is now a non-district game at Honaker.
Oct. 31 : E. Mont. @ Radford has been switched to become Radford @ E. Mont.
Div. 2 : James Monroe's opponent - Summers Co. (NC) - has been corrected to WV.
Div. 2 : Phelps (WV) has been corrected to Div. 1 Phelps, KY.
These items were corrected on the Aug. 11th version :
The following games are now correctly listed as non-district games :
Sept. 26 : Craig @ Bland
Oct. 3 : Tazewell @ Gate City
Oct. 10 : Appy @ St. Paul
Oct. 31 : JJ Kelly @ Cloudland (TN)
Nov. 7 : Parry McCluer @ Wilson Memorial
Nov. 7 : Carroll Co. @ Graham has been moved to Sat., since Mitchell Stadium will host
Lee Co. @ Bluefield (WV) on Friday night.
These items MIGHT be corrected later on :
Whitesburg is listed with the Group A out-of-state schools, but they
ARE Div. 3.
A Lee Co. opponent - Middlesboro - has made a change in their schedule.
Instead of Clay Co., the Jackets open with Ashland Blazer at the
City County Bowl at Bell Co. H.S. on Sat., 8/23
Div. 3 Ruthledge (TN) has no 'h' in the middle.
Div. 2 Unaka (TN) has no game on 8/22, according to the TSSAA.
The TSSAA & Claiborne's website has the Thomas Walker - Claiborne game on 8/29, not 8/22.
A Thomas Walker opponent, the Cumberland Gap (TN) Panthers, aren't listed
because the newly-combined school (YEAAAAA, we finally get rid of Powell Valley,
Tenn.) didn't have their enrollment numbers figured on time. Their schedule :
Aug 22 Rutledge Oct 3 @ Happy Valley
29 open 10 Thomas Walker (VA)
Sept 5 @ S. Greene 17 Hampton
12 Union Co. 24 @ Gatlinburg-Pittman
19 @ Chuckey-Doak 31 West Greene
26 @ Claiborne
other tidbits :
The Sept. 5th Twin Valley "at" Whitesburg game is actually at a neutral site (Grundy),
but the VHSL's computer program won't 'N'eutralize a location.
Div. 3 Unico, TN is spelled incorectly - it's Unicoi.
Magna Vista, Big Creek (WV), Bluefield (WV), Jenkins (KY) still have just 9 games listed.
Unaka (TN) has at least 3 different schedules online, so I'm not sure when they open.
On Aug. 6th, the Potomac News reported that AAA Gar-Field's field won't be ready on time,
so they've moved the Sept. 5th opener vs. Osbourne to Potomac and the Sept. 19th game vs.
Stonewall Jackson to C.D. Hylton.
Pikeville's News-Express recently reported that
the renovation of the field at Pikeville STILL isn't finished, so the Pike Co. Bowl games
for Friday, 8/22, have been moved to Shelby Valley. Also, a decision will be made on Monday
about the location of the Saturday, 8/23 games.
