Hot Track Of The Week:

This is a song currently in the Top 50 that I'll feature each week.

MGK featuring Hailee Steinfeld - At My Best

"At My Best" was featured as the Spotlight Song Of The Week a few weeks ago. Now that it's on the Top 50, my love for it has only continued to grow. This collaboration between rapper, MGK, and actress-turned-singer, Hailee Steinfeld, is an ode to every fairweather friend out there who has abandoned a friend or loved one in their time of need or when they were down and out and then had the nerve to step back into their life when said friend or loved one is having a run of good luck.

Spotlight Song Of The Week:

This is a song from the Next In Line List that may be making a debut sometime within the next few weeks.

Harry Styles - Sign Of The Times

I didn't want to like this song. I promise you I didn't. Although I understood why they were popular, the appeal of One Direction totally passed me by. However, if I can chart every single that Zayn has released and almost consider charting that hot acoustic mess Niall Horan released earlier this year, I suppose I can find room in my heart for Harry Styles' first post-1D single release. When the group announced their pending hiatus nearly two years ago, it was almost universally assumed that of any solo projects any of the members created, Harry's would easily be the most successful. After all, he was One Direction's very own Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, or Donny Osmond, if you will. When I first heard "Sign Of The Times," a surprisingly power ballad-ish choice to serve as a first single, I wasn't all that impressed. But, almost against my wishes, it's grown on me. We'll see whether or not it weasels its way into my heart far enough to actually make the Top 50. But, as of right now, it's chances are looking better and better as the days and weeks go by.

Blast From The Past:

This is a song from the past that I'm featuring to bring back memories of yesteryear!

The Main Ingredient - Everybody Plays The Fool

This week's Blast From The Past takes us back to 1972. I know I've featured this song as a Blast From The Past before. But, in light of the death of Cuba Gooding, Sr., who was the lead singer of R&B trio, The Main Ingredient, at the time "Everybody Plays The Fool" was released, I decided it was only right to feature it again. Though he wasn't the group's original lead singer, Gooding, Sr. took over as the lead vocalist in time for The Main Ingredient to have their breakthrough hit. "Everybody Plays The Fool," the first single release with Gooding, Sr. in the lineup, went all the way to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart and #2 on the R&B Singles chart. Despite ranking up a handful of other hits during the rest of their career, "Everybody Plays The Fool" would end up being the trio's biggest and most memorable hit. Sadly, Gooding, Sr. was found dead in his car last week. Two of the trio's original members, Tony Silvester and Donald McPherson (who Gooding, Sr. replaced in the trio), passed away. The Main Ingredient's other original member, Luther Simmons, retired in the mid-2000s. These days, The Main Ingredient continues touring as a duo. As for "Everybody Plays The Fool," it was covered in 1991 by Soul singer, Aaron Neville, and introduced the song to a whole new generation of listeners.
