Hot Track Of The Week:

This is a song currently in the Top 50 that I'll feature each week.

NF - Let You Down

Christian Hip-Hop artist, Nathan Feuerstein - or, NF, as he goes by for his stage name - released his first studio album in 2015 and has slowly been making a name for himself in the Christian music scene. "Let You Down" is the third single from his third studio album, Perception. To me, somewhat reminiscent of Fort Minor's 2006 hit, "Where'd You Go?," "Let You Down" is about NF's relationship with his father, who raised him as a single dad, and about how NF never wanted to disappoint him. I really like this song. It's got a positive message and it's about something that almost everyone can relate to. I think all of us - at some point or another in our life - have had someone we didn't want to let down.

Spotlight Song Of The Week:

This is a song from the Next In Line List that may be making a debut sometime within the next few weeks.

Walk The Moon - One Foot

Walk The Moon, who had a huge hit in late 2014 with the omnipresent, "Shut Up & Dance," is back with a brand new single. "One Foot," just as catchy, peppy, and uptempo as "Shut Up & Dance," is sure to be stuck in everyone's head for months to come!

Blast From The Past:

This is a song from the past that I'm featuring to bring back memories of yesteryear!

Anne Murray - Broken Hearted Me

This week's Blast From The Past takes us back to 1979. Before you ask... No, I'm not going through a break-up or suffering from a broken heart. In strictly a matter of coincidence, I happened to be listening to (shamless plug! Click here to see the broadcast schedule and how to listen!) my "1970s Hits" broadcast on Jammin' 95 while posting this chart. This song was playing while I was trying to decide what song to feature as the Blast From The Past and, voila! Sometimes, it truly is all about timing! At any rate, "Broken Hearted Me" had originally been recorded in 1978 by Soft Pop duo, England Dan & John Ford Coley. The next year, Canadian Country/Pop singer, Anne Murray, recorded it and included it as the first single from her then-latest album. A heart-wrenching ballad about the inability to get over the end of a relationship and how time definitely won't heal all wounds, it became a big hit for Murray, who had already had her share of chart success earlier in the decade. "Broken Hearted Me" peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart and hit #1 on not only the Billboard Country Singles, chart, but also on the Canadian Country chart. Over the years, this has become a favorite of mine. Although I had known several other Anne Murray songs, I hadn't been too familiar with it until it was featured in 2006 in an episode of Season 4 of the TV drama, Cold Case. The show is about a squad within the Philadelphia Police Department that investigates "cold case" crimes from the past. At the end of every episode, after the perpetrator of the crime is (usually) apprehended, a montage of scenes featuring the current happenings in the lives of characters connected to the case that we've met throughout the episode is depicted in a montage that usually ends with one of the detectives or someone from the deceased's family seeing an apparition of the victim before it fades away, content to "move on" now that their murder has been solved. This montage is usually set to a song from the period of time during which the crime took place. "Broken Hearted Me" was the song played during the montage at the end of the episode it was featured in about the mysterious 1979 death in the middle of the woods of a wife and mother who seemed to have the perfect family. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of Anne Murray's music. Different strokes from different folks, right? But, I do enjoy "Broken Hearted Me" every so often.
