Waffle stitch Baby Blanket

By Suzy Rigby Copyright 1997

Materials for This Afghan:
12 oz worsted wt. yarn - variegated
"K" Hook
Finished Size: 27"x24"

This is a super easy and fun pattern! And it's so thick and warm and cushy, it could even be used as a nap pad!

FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet: Yarn over. Insert hook around post of next stitch from right to left. Yarn over, complete DC as usual

To Start:
Ch 85.
Row 1: SC in 2nd ch from hook, and in each ch across. (84 sc)
Row 2: Ch 2 (this counts as hdc now, and throughout)*FPDC around next sc, DC in next SC*. Repeat between * to last stitch, HDC in last stitch.
Row 3-25: Ch 2. *DC in FPDC, FPDC in DC* across row to last stitch. HDC in last stitch.

Edging: Since the pattern provides such great texture, i did a basic HDC edging around (2 rows). I think that a shell edge would also look lovely, or another fancier edge, but the simplicity of the HDC( or even sc) edging shows off the texture and thickness of the blanket best. (IMHO)
