Indian Rupees one hundred drawn in favor of "Society for Education, Empowerment and Development", to cover the
Photostat and postage charges.
Registered under FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act of India) to receive and utilize funds from any country.
Has been in the field of development for the last 18 years and has been associated with many initiatives in the field of development in Gujarat.
Holds a basic degree in Arts. Has completed two-year post-graduate training in Social Management, has a P.G.Diploma in Human Resource Management, is an accredited trainer in Entrepreneurship Development and is certified trainer in Rock-Climbing and Mountaineering.
Is presently working as Program Manager with ActionAid International India and is based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
His specific skills are in areas of group dynamics, leadership development, problem solving, team building, training trainers in development management, supervision, negotiations, organizing events and counseling prospective entrepreneurs.
In SEED, apart from fulfilling the administrative responsibilities, is the person responsible for dealing with other institutions and agencies. Is an active member of the core group that is presently chalking out the future plans and strategies of SEED and building linkages in the community.
Ms.Huma Ameer
Has an M.Phil. Degree in Economics and is a lecturer of the subject in a local post-graduate college, L & C Mehta Arts College, for the last 2 years prior to which she taught in a girls' college for 2 years.
Is well versed in the various socio-economic problems of the poor, especially the ones related to the education of girls in any community. Has been participating in seminars and meetings on the subject.
In SEED she was involved in a study of ten schools of Banaskantha district in North Gujarat.
Dr. Zubeda B. Desai – M.B.B.S., M.D. (Obstetrics & Gynecology) {President}
Is 64 years of age. Has been practicing in Ahmedabad for the last 33 years. Graduated in M.B.B.S. in 1958, securing first rank in Gujarat University and also being the first woman to stand first in the faculty of medicine securing all the gold medals in the stream that year.
Got an Indian Council of Medical Research Fellowship at B.J.Medical College for two and a half years after clearing her M.D. in 1963 in the first attempt.
Was awarded Population Council, New York Fellowship for one year at Temple University Medical Centre at Philadelphia, USA. Worked on a research project on Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices during the period 1963 – 64. Followed by further training for two years in USA and UK. Returned back to India in 1966.
Was awarded a fellowship from John Hopkins University to learn Laproscopic Tubal Ligation at Washington University of Medicine, St.Louise, Missourie. Has been a pioneer in this approach since 1978, in Gujarat.
Recently retired as the Superintendent of Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Ahmedabad. This is one of the oldest maternal childcare institution in India, established in 1887.
Also has to her credit a visit to UK by the invitation of the Prime Minister of India to study maternal child care under National Health Service in Great Britain.
Was also Advisor to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India from 1986 to 1992.
Her life, in her own words, "has been spent in looking after the welfare of women in India not just as expectant mothers but also as human beings".
She is one of those persons who have a great deal of respect in the community because of her unassuming nature and a pulse on the issues of the community.
Prasad Mathew Chacko
Presently the Regiona Manager of ActionAid International India based at Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Has been associated with it for the last 1 year. Mainly involved in development projects where the stress is on forming people-based local organizations that ultimately take responsibility for their own development.
His basic degree is in Science and Masters in Social Work. His skills lie in problem solving, planning, counseling, teams building, supervision, training trainers in development, conducting social research and Organization Development exercises for other NGOs and peoples' groups.
Active member of the spearhead team of SEED.
Mr. Gulammohiuddin R. Nizami
Has been in the field of formal education all his life. Was a professor of English at and retired as the principal from the City Arts College, Ahmedabad.
Right from the year 1969 has been an activist in action and thought. Started his activist vocation as a humble worker with the slum-dwellers of Ahmedabad under the aegis of Sarvodaya and Shanti Sena (institutions founded by Acharya Vinoba Bhave).
Was also an active worker of Lok Adhikar Sangh, an Ahmedabad-based advocacy group working for the rehabilitation of industrial workers of the state, at that time.
In 1974 joined active politics to throw out the corrupt ministry of the time and courted arrest in the student-teacher-led movement that ultimately led to the removal of the then Chief Minister.
Was a visiting post-graduate teacher at the Gujarat University and an active member of the University Area Teachers' Association.
Is also a life time member of People's Education Society of Ahmedabad which runs a school – Republic High School.
At present contributes to the seminars and conventions on secularism, communal amity and human development, whenever invited.
Mr. Vijay S. Parmar
Has been working with the Ahmedabad-based NGO, JANVIKAS for the last two years. Holds basic degrees in Science and Law.
His skills lie in training groups and individuals in development related issues. Also conducts Organization Development exercises, extends legal advice to people-based organizations on Human Rights issues and has developed a professional expertise in people-managed economic enterprises.
