Oteil Is Here!

I hope that you will find this page to be very informative. I am going to do my best to provide Tour dates & cool lessons eventually from all of the ARU family here. Enjoy! !!!

Here are some things from my archives that I thought I would post so you guys could have some fresh new stuff to check out !

Great Combo!

Yup, that handsome devil playng the 'ole Yamaha Bass would be our very own Oteil around 21 years of age. He was then playing with the Virginia Beach Band, The Squares ! After finding a job here in Charlottesville, I met The Square's Keyboard, Vocal, and Trombone Virtuoso, Mark Maynard at work. We struck up a conversation about music and found out we both knew Oteil. He surprised me with this and a couple other pictures one day. He knew that I was a HUGE fan and would truly appreciate them. Oteil raves about Mark giving him his first real break and being a great band leader. Mark gave him many tools that would later bring him to the level of musicianship that he is at now! I later met the rest of The Squares at a Bass Clinic that Oteil and Alphonso Johnson did at the Beach. They are a great group of guys! It doesn't appear that he had any clue that he would be joining the Allman Brothers one day !

This is a New section of the site that will hopefully help you learn some new Jimmy Licks! Have fun with it ! Feel free to request licks that are stumping you! No complete songs will be posted at this time.
