SOL 5.3 Social Studies Special Project:

You teach about Revolutionary Figures!

Using at least three sources, only one of which may be an encyclopedia (paper or electronic), you will research a major figure of the Revolutionary War from the list below, write a two page paper with a bibliography, and then give a 5-10 minute presentation to the class on this figure using a handout and a visual aid.

The project will count as three grades. You can earn a total of 20 points extra credit to enhance your grade. You will receive 10 points extra for turning your paper typed, and 10 points extra for turning in the slip at the bottom of the page with your and your parent/guardian’s signature by Jan. 25.

You will need to complete the following steps in the project by the deadlines listed. Failure to meet the deadlines will result in a 10% grade reduction per day. If you miss class because of illness or weather, the deadline will be the next day you are in class. If you are unable to give your presentation at the scheduled time, you will receive no points for that part of the project.

Your project should include some background information on your subject, but should focus on their role in the American Revolution.
