Think about what it means to be a typical American, and how you would describe one. What do Americans do? Where do they work? What do they do for fun? What foods do they eat? Where do they live? What do they watch on TV? What type of music do they listen to? What kinds of clothes do they wear? What do they study in schools? Where do they get the things they need? What sports do they like? How old are they? What do they look like? How do they get places?

When you've thought about what a typical American is like, pretend you have a friend in another country that has written you a letter asking what a typical American is like. Assume this person has no idea what America is like. Write a one-page letter to this friend, and describe for them what you think a typical American is like. Include all the proper parts of a letter.
