Mystery at Potowmack

by
Adrian Abbott

One day in room 12, Adrian Abbott and Jonathan Webster were helping Mrs. Nicely. Jonathan brother went to college. Jonathan was sad, very, very sad, how could he visit him. Adrian and Jonathan were going to find out. But the next day Jonathan’s dog ran away. Then he was even sadder. Then Jonathan told Adrian and then they ran and looked and ran and looked. Adrian was mad he told Jonathan how could this dog disappear. Jonathan was worried, very worried.

On Monday they walked to school together and discussed the clues they were very good clues, very, very, good clues. I liked them so did Jonathan. The clues were that they could go on a taxi to Potowmack college and that they could watch for Jonathan’s dog. But when they found out how much it costs they gave up. It would cost $20.50. Adrian told Jonathan about how much it would cost they were sad.

A tear came down from Jonathan’s face then Jonathan sighed, I loved my Brother very, very much. I hated to cut in but I had to, it was bad of me but it was worth it and Jonathan understood.

The next day I said we should go and tell our friends so we did and they said they would help us, I felt good. Jonathan said that we should get going and try to solve the mystery so we looked for clues. We could not find any clues. So then we thought about the mystery. It was a hard mystery, very, very hard and I ended up saying "This is hard."

So then the next day me and Jonathan went to school and we talked about the mystery but we had to solve it. I worked hard on this mystery, very hard.

Jonathan said on the phone "I got it, I got it, we could go in Mrs. Nicely’s car"

But when they asked she said "No, No, No I will not take you there."

We were sad, sad, sad.

On Saturday I said "We could phone your brother and he could come over here."

"But he cannot drive" said Jonathan.

"That’s a problem." I said.

The next day I said "Let’s go and look for your dog."

So we looked and looked and looked but no luck and so we were sad, very sad and so I thought up some stuff to cheer up Jonathan.

But then came a weird phone call, it was Jonathan’s brother. He said he was coming home for the weekend.

Jonathan was so happy he jumped for joy and then he cried.

The next day when his brother came, he had the dog with him!

I even smiled a little, it was a great day!
