Jess was a farmer and also served in World War I. He was hit by a car north of Cleveland,Georgia, on Route 129, after stopping for a drink of water at a roadside water spout. 6.Benjamin Brisco Thomas:Born 14 May 1901 in Towns County. Died 1998. Ben was a farmer and used a team of horses to plow and harrow his fields. He used a crosscut saw to cut wood to heat with and hauled it to the house using the horses and wagon. Ben was married on 17 March, 1929 to Maude Viola Brown (12 Jan, 1911) , daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Mollie Mason Brown
7.Eliza Thomas:Born 18 May 1903. First married Benjamin Harrison (Ben) Brown (1 April, 1887--7 july, 1968) on 13 Nov, 1921. Ben was a blacksmith and rock mason. Ben is buried at the Shingle Hollow Cemetery in Rutherford, North Carolina. Eliza married Roy Land in 1954. Eliza died 9 May, 1965 and is buried at Old Union Cemetery, Towns County,Georgia.
