This WEB page represents my PERSONAL opinions of the bands that I have observed throughout 1996 and 1997. I know there are hundreds of other groups and artists out there in the southeastern VA area that are excellent, but in order to be included I have to observe them at an outdoor venue between April 1 and November 15 and at significant indoor venues any time of the year.At each event the artists is judged on a scale from 0.0 to 9.9.
The 1997 bands and artists listing can be viewed by clicking HERE.
The types of music is also my personal preference. I tend to lean more toward country, blues, cajun, zydeco, reggae, acoustic, bluegrass, beach, modern rock, oldies, classic rock. This is not a commercial venture, it is just my part in trying to provide special recognition, promotion, and support for local music that I have witnessed that appeals to my preferences.
If you have any suggestions of bands to check out in 1998, let me know.
1n 1997 , I observed 200 different bands and artists in venues from Emporia, Richmond, Suffolk, Williamsburg, Chesapeake, Va Beach, Hampton , Newport News, Portsmouth, Poquoson, Franklin, Raleigh, and Columbus. I hope this explains what this is about and I appreciate your comments.
Thanks.
Steven Sloop
