Abingdon High School in small town Abingdon, Virginia is located in the mountains of southwest Virginia. The Abingdon High School Band is involved in competitive programs throughout the school year ranging from marching and concert band competitions to indoor drum line and colorguard competitions. Being in an area where funds are not as abundant as other parts of the state and region does not prevent these different organizations from presenting impresive and award winning performances. In the fall of 2001, the Abingdon High School Marching Falcons are performing music from the Blockbuster Hit and Broadway Musical Classic "West Side Story." This show takes a new approach to the popular marching band show with a fresh, new arrangement. Musical selections include "Maria" "America" "Cool" "Jet Song" "Somewhere" and "Tonight".
