Chester Races

" No racecourse in the World has a more historic setting than Chester's Roodee. It was here that the Roman Legions arrived to build their fortress Deva. In the days of Roman occupation, the River Dee washed up to teh walls wheretoday, thousands stand to cheer teh Winner ot the Chester Cup.

The first official redcords of horse racing at Chester date back to the early Sixteenth Century, making it the country's oldest Racecourse. With almost five hundred years of history behind us, no other Racecourse is as well positioned to offer all teh excitement and entertainment associated with "A Day at the Races".

Introduction to the Racing calendar we got when we entered the Racecourse.

Sandra and Veronica, two Swedish students, went for a visit to Chester, to see the city and do some project work. They came to Chester when there was a May festival at the racing course. The May festival is a three-day meeting to celebrate the spring. We had an adventured and had a part of that atmosphere they are talking about. The only thing we missed where the big hats and the champagne, but we can have those later...

" With over 10,000 bottles of Champagne consumed last year, this is the event that attracts all, from the serious racegoers, to the dedicated socialite".

Do I have to add something more? I rest my case.

The two poor students paid £ 6 (VAT included) to take a place at the Dee Stand.

We can say that what you pay for, is what you get... It was when we made this visit, we saw the class differences in society. We saw 1 black woman among a crowd of many thousands!

It is a money industry!
