The End

It's really true,
life on Earth is
self-consuming
as everyone must
kill and devour
several lives a day
to keep on breathing
for the duration
of an ordinary life,
and even though
our head-hunting
cannibal ancestors
ingested brains for
the mental energy
to contemplate
our grim situation,
7 billion and growing
now proceed unknowing
to impending ecocidal
self-extermination.
