SIREN

Amid numberless galaxies of stars
with countless worlds of fire and ice
circles one so caught between
such primary opposites
the struggle to live
is an endless war
of life gorging on life
to grow, give birth and die,
each death a push to procreate
ever more ravenous cells of contradiction
whose commercial top predator
now wields the weapon of progress,
rocket-launching a space machine
that sings a primitive song
to puzzle awake to beguile
any faraway minds listening
for evidence of a life beyond
this chaos of Cosmic order
and the paradox within.
