Dreading civilization
would again collapse,
a wealthy clique
of pampered hacks
demand their fame
be of lasting worth,
so bury their books
in multiple packs
with tough insulation
so precious pages
might somehow live
through eon's decay
in moribund Earth,
waiting to be read
for alien education,
til weary of Ages,
the dying Sun swells,
burning her planets
to magnetic soot
of stellar rebirth
and life generation.
