Millions of people
shun scary thoughts
in favor of religion,
like the quizzical
presumption of both
eternal souls and
resurrected bodies.
So what are the facts,
not magical or mythical
just the simple truth?
We live and die, period?
But what happens when
each of us floats up
over our own corpse?
Nothing, or is that
so far beyond our
critical perception
all our visions
of an afterlife
are physical?
