BOOMERANG

Thank goodness for air conditioning
or this summer would kill us!
Still, those hard-working units
take so much electricity
pumping out more heat
to keep us cool inside,
many millions of them
by now of course,
in homes and hotels,
cars and limos,
buses and subways,
trucks and trains,
factories and offices,
libraries and laboratories,
shops and supermarkets,
restaurants and bars,
clinics and hospitals,
entire universities too,
all across the country
and around the World -
from blessing to curse?
So let's say a prayer
that next year with
millions more to cool
it won't be even
hotter than this!
