Salutations, Friends!. . . NEWS on Xyra & Verborgen : |
Mixing was completed June 12, 2001 for the 7-song 'demo version'
of the 4th XYRA album release, NOW entitled 'LIQUID LIGHT.'
It was recorded and mixed live at Recording Arts Studio by
Marco Delmar, assisted by Emily Hay. Song samples can be heard on: http://www.mp3.com/Xyra Incorporating multiple synthesizers and electric violin with popish quips, the music is densely atmospheric, yet commercially viable. The current ensemble is a combination of players from both bands: Verborgen, and THE LINE_. XYRA awaits feedback from major labels showing added interest in the newer material. PLEASE NOTE: XYRA & Company have experienced great luck on MP3, and are happy to be a part of its growing music community! As of July 24, 2001: 8 songs are concurrently in the Top 40, 3 in the Top 10, 2 have hit #1, one holding position for over a week! GANNETT News Service interviewed XYRA and photographed the band during rehearsal. The feature article will appear in 10 publications, nationwide, the first August 8, 2001. (Gannett News Service owns USA Today, among other national publications.) Click here for the lyrics to 'My Captain' and More about the tragic story that inspired the song. Song on MP3.com |

DAMIAN's 2nd LIVE interview with XYRA - on
WRNR Radio Friday, June 23, 2000 went well, despite
the guest microphone going out. This caused the spot
to go beyond the allotted time, resulting in one song by
VERBORGEN having to be cut. Instead, two selections
from XYRA's side project, THE LINE were played:
'Chaos, in Search of Meaning,' a collaborative effort between
Christian Nokes, Andrew Cann, Xyra, and Doug Empie, as well
as the Nico song that inspired the name of the band, 'THE LINE.'
The spot ended with a VERBORGEN cut entitled 'The Fool's Journey,'
written by Eric Ulreich. Participating band members were Eric Ulreich (of VERBORGEN), and Christian Nokes (of THE LINE). We hope the Bryan Ferry/Andy MacKay selection, 'While My Heart is Still Beating' (covered by XYRA & VERBORGEN) will be played more often! Coincidentally, Xyra received word Friday, June 23' (the day of the 'RNR broadcast) that EMI and Bryan Ferry really like it! We heartily thank Damian for his time and effort in promoting local music, and also for joining us across the street, for a bite to eat, after his show. Damian's LIVE interview with Xyra on WRNR Radio - 103.1 FM - Friday, March 3, 2000 - went NOTABLY well! Four selections from the band's three releases were played. It ended with cover song written by NICO: You Forgot to Answer. WRNR is a commercial radio station, so we especially appreciate the interest Damian and WRNR have taken in Xyra & Verborgen!
