Kürnbach has a very interesting history. About two-thirds of Kürnbach was part of Hessen, and one-third part of Württemberg for over 600 years. Then in 1810, the part that was part of Württemberg was given to Baden, while the remainder stayed part of Hessen until 1905, when all of Kürnbach became part of Baden.
The Evangelische Kirche in Kürnbach was in the part of the town that was part of Württemberg, and then Baden. People living in the town were sometimes listed in the records as part of the "Hessische Anteil" or "Württemberg Anteil", and later part of the "Badische Anteil". Depending on where and when people may have lived in the town, their birthplace could be correctly recorded as Kürnbach, Hessen; or Kürnbach, Württemberg; or Kürnbach, Baden. I have also seen the town recorded as Kürnbach, Hesse-Darmstadt.
Johann Adam DÖRICH was the founder of the Kürnbach DÖRICH line. He was born in Bahnbrücken, Baden, in September, 1777, and moved to Kürnbach upon his marriage to Sophia Cordula HERZOG, of Kürnbach, on 29 January 1800.
