A WORK IN PROGRESS 68 FIREBIRD

This is the begining of the body work. We are going to strip off all the old primer. It was on the car when I bought it so I have to see whats underneath.(3/20/02)Most of the car has been sanded and reprimed.

The hood scoop is from a 73 TA, I had it on before and its really cool, and it is setup to work the way it was suppose to.

I have been cleaning the crome and bagging it so that will be done, it's a pain in the butt. The person who primed the car before sprayed over everthing. I was thinking of having it power coated the same color as the car, but I like the shiney stuff. If anyone has any ideas e-mail me and let me know. I am also still toying with the tail lights.

THE POWER PLANT

The engine is a 350cu.in. chevy motor. More bang for the buck also I have alot more chevy motor parts than pontiac. It will be mated with a 4sp trans.(03/20/02) The motor is in the car and sounds good. The carb. needs to be rebuilt but I'll wait untill everthing else is done. I still have to hook up the exhaust.

THE INTERIOR

What can I say, it needs alot of work.(03/20/03) I have found some seat covers and door panels now it just needs a headliner and new carpet. The rest of the interior is in desent shape, just needs a good cleaning(five years of dust and alittle overspray from the priming)

THE FRONT END AND WHEELS

I have started working on the front end. I have a disk brake set-up for the car which I am starting to install. I am going to get the front springs cut down about 3inches, they are new big block springs so with only the small block in there its going to sit to high.

This is the before shot

And this is after its done.

The Disk brakes I am useing are a used pair I got on e-bay. Very good price! I just need to get rotors which are very easy to find at any auto parts store. The wheels I have now are off a 96 Firebird they are 16X8inch wheel. They should look great on there. What do you think?

Drop me aline and tell me what you think. (update 7/2/01) These rims will not fit withp out spacers, so now I am looking for something else.(03/20/02) The front brakes are done. New calipers, rotors and hoses also put in new master cly. I just have to bleed them now. We are going to be moving in June so my wife says one the cars has to go.We only have room for three so the firebird is going up for sale. It will be listed on ebay.com some time in April.
