UFOs in the USA: what’s going on now?

Someone has characterized the UFO subject as "resilient". In other words, it never dies.

But it is also true that along the years it is minimal the importance this subject has in society in general and in the American society in particular.

A recent poll shows that only 34% of American accept the idea that there could be UFOs. Just a 34%!

It means that the other 66% of the population do not believe in such a thing.

--------------------------------------

On the political side, in one of the initial debates among the Democratic presidential candidates, the Representative for the State of Ohio, Dennis Kucinich answered affirmatively when he was questioned by a Tim Russert if he did see a UFO. The public reacted with smiles and he clarified: "It’s an Unidentified Flying Object, okey? I saw something".

After that, Congressman Kucinich was satisfied when Russert said that 14% of the US population have seen a UFO.

After the debate, MSNBC’ s Chris Matthews, --asked Governor of New Mexico Bill Richardson if he believed in UFOs. Richardson was smiling but didn’t look very comfortable with the question, and then he replied: "You know, I’ve never seen one, you know, Roswell, New Mexico is the hotbed of UFOs and I promote Roswell as a tourist admission, but there is no credible….the fact is this, the Federal Government has not come clean on all that issue and it should, but not, I’ve never seen one, I doubt of their existence.."

When Matthews asked the same question to Senator Joseph Biden, a usually serious and poised man, he laughed strenuously; as if he wanted with his exaggerated laugh to put an end to the issue or hide something else.

-----------------------------------

On January 14, 2008, some people of the small rural town of Stephenville in Texas saw some lights in formation in the sky. AP, and the Local Channel 5, Fox, in Washington D.C, reported that sighting.

But later was dealt twice in CNN by the "Larry King Show" with the participation of witnesses, and the presence in studio of Mr. James Fox, a young producer of the DVD "Out of the Blue" for which he charges $ 100 a copy! (UFOs as bu$ine$$).

On February 25, 2008, Fox Channel 5 –a local TV outlet covering the Washington D.C. area— announced before and put on the air in the news bulletin at 10PM, a short report based on declarations of Kevin Randle, the author of 80 books some of them science-fiction, and others on UFOs, and particularly on Roswell.

His background includes serving in the Army as a helicopter pilot, and in the Air Force as an intelligence officer. He claims that this provides him with a "unique insight" into the operations of the military.

The presentation of Channel 5 said:

"Are we alone in the universe? It's a question people have pondered for centuries and now, new declassified documents could prove we're not alone. Among the evidence: Strange lights over the U.S. Capitol more than 50 years ago. Fox 5's Brooke Baldwin investigates UFOs in Washington!"

Well. Really there were not new declassified documents. Even more: the only document shown never was classified, and it was a small part of the famous press-conference that Major General John A. Samford gave at the Pentagon, the 29 of July, 1952.

As we can see, once again the dull idea to link UFOs with an alien civilization is apparently the cleverest thing that comes to the mind of some journalists!

The final comments made by Randle were that he hopes some day will happen such a big event related with UFOs that there would be no longer any doubt about them.

And finally, just near the end of February, Dell Company announced a new laptop; it’s the Alienware Area-51 m9750!

As we can see, UFOs are now directly related to business. It’s either a place exploited as a tourist attraction, or it’s the excuse for another DVD, book or Hollywood production, or for a new series of a laptop which apparently is well suited to play electronic games.
