Provo-The Americans are gearing up for their first campout and it's looking to be a very cold one. The weather has suddenly changed, temperatures have dropped and the snow levels have come way down! Storm after storm is about to pass through northern Utah, but they still have two weeks before they go. Will the Americans "Be Prepared?"
YES!
Discussing cold weather camping at the troop meeting was all fun and games until the reality of the consequences of not being prepared sunk into the Americans minds. The Scout Motto is starting to gather meaning in the Scouts young minds.
Scout Times, the Troop Newspaper, had the following article to help the Scouts prepare.
Troop Campout
The first troop Campout is quickly approaching. Our next three [now two] Troop meetings are going to be spent planning and preparing to go camping as Boy Scouts. This will include planning a menu, going over the clothing and gear needed, and being prepared!
The Troop will leave Friday, Nov. 18 at 6:30pm and return on Sunday, Nov. 20 around noon.

WELCOME! We, the Leaders of Troop 1419, are excited to have each of you with us. We hope you are just as excited. This is your Troop, and we are here to support and help you on your trail to Eagle.
There is so much that we can do in our Troop, like camping, hiking, backpacking, swimming, earning rank and merit badges, collecting patches and so much more. It's all part of the fun we hope and plan to make a part of our Troop's traditions here in Provo.
Camping is always fun. It is our hope that we get some camping nights under our belts as soon as possible. We have a lot to learn to prepare us for that, though so be ready to learn at our meetings. Feel free to study your Boy Scout Handbook and the Camping Merit Badge book.
Our first goal is to provide for each of our Scouts the exciting, fun, Scouting program you are looking for.
Lord Robert Baden-Powell, Scouting's founder said, "Scouting is a game with a purpose." It's our turn to play the game. Let's have fun.
