May 17: It's been quite a while since I've updated anything here, so I guess it's time to update. School has been out a couple of weeks and it feels pretty good to have a break from that. I did better than I thought I would and I get to keep my scholarship. You can't imagine how great that makes me feel, and also how much it helps out. I found a job working for a local landscaping company and I work from 7 to 3 Monday through Friday and it is hard work. I come home dead tired every day, but I do what I need to do to make a little bit of money. I don't think I could survive another year on Dominoe's pay. A thousand dollars per summer just doesn't cut it, especially when you're trying to save up to buy a car. I've been working on the GTO some lately and it's been pretty slow going so far. We decided to strip the paint completely down to make sure we get rid of all the rust. Once we get it stripped, we'll give the car an "acid bath" with some metal-prep stuff that eats away rust. After that we'll paint the car with self-etching primer. The guys at the paint store said that should stop any left over rust. After that we'll start working on straightening out the body. It's going to take a lot of work! So far we have about half of the car stripped down. I also bought a hood for the car because when I got it, it had a hood from a LeMans on it. I found a pretty good deal on e-bay for the hood and payed $300 for it. I heard that it's not uncommon to have to pay up to $600 for an original GTO hood. I don't have any pictures yet, but when I do, I'll post them on my GTO page that I've get to get started. I figure I'll wait until I actually have something to put in there before I start building it. That's about all I have for now. I'll try to update more frequently over the summer since I have more time.
