Vernal victim advocates and volunteers operate the 24-hour crisis phone line and provide immediate help to victims and their families. When law enforcement are called to an incident an advocate from V.V.A.P. is called to the scene or emergency room to work with the victim, provide information, offer support, assist with police statements, Protective Orders, court procedures, and referrals to the Women's Crisis Center Safehouse if needed. Workers from the Department of Children and Family Services,[D.C.F.S] are also called to the scene when children have been witness to the incident.
