The Ride

Weber County offers a unique service to Senior Citizens called The Ride. The Ride is located in the Weber County Nutrition Center, 1176 West 3300 South, Ogden, UT, under the direction of Doug Fowers.

This program was started aproximately 14 years ago using all volunteer drivers. Today The Ride uses both paid and volunteer drivers, and has grown considerably.

Starting out using a fleet of mis-matched vans, usually in need of repair and paint, the program now offers our passengers comfortable new vans to ride in.

Delivering within Weber County, we offer the chance for those that are homebound or unable to get to doctors appointments, shopping, hair appointments, etc., an affordable alternative to taxis and convenience over that of the bus.

We also provide transportation for the Blind Association and wheelchair bound citizens. The Ride also provides transportation for Senior Citizens to the Ogden Ballet and the Ogden Symphony.

Anyone wishing to use The Ride must be the age of 60 or over, have no other means of transportation, and live within Weber County. Exceptions to this are the Senior Companion Program and the Volunteer Grandparent Program.

The hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Most holidays we are closed. The Ride works on a voluntary donation basis....suggested donation is $1.00 per person each way.

For further information, please contact Doug Fowers at (801) 625 - 3776 during office hours, or leave a message on the answering machine.
