We met in the fall of 1996 while we both attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. We lived down the hall from eachother in the same building of the Glenwood apartment complex. Because we lived so close together we ran in to eachother in the halls and went to church together.
The sparks between us began to fly when we played on the same co-ed ward volleyball team for BYU intramurals. After we played a game or two together we
started to hang out at eachothers apartments. We found out that we were both huge Lakers fans, sports fanatics, had the same senses of humor, and both of us were studying dentistry at the time. (Andrew changed his major after getting a 42% of a Chemistry test).
Andrew was scared to death the first time that he asked Andi out on a date, it took him a couple of weeks to finally do it. Andi was waiting for her boyfriend while he served a mission and Andrew didn't want to interfere. When he finally mustered the courage to ask her out, she turned him down because she already had plans for that night with friends who were coming in to visit from Arizona.
Undaunted, Andrew asked her out for the second time but Andi turned him down once again! She had been asked out by a guy she had dated a few times already, Andrew thought she was just brushing him off. A few days later Andi called him and asked him out. It's a good thing that she did because Andrew had sworn to never ask her out again because she always turned him down. On our first date Andi made spaghetti, burned breadsticks and we then we watched Happy Gillmore. We have been pretty much inseparable ever since that first date.
We dated from November 1996 to March 1997 and by that time we knew that we had something very special between us. After a lot of talking and praying we decided to get engaged in March and we set the wedding date for June. Andrew proposed to her on his knee on a starry night overlooking all of Utah Valley, it was a very special evening for us.
We were married on June 14, 1997 for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ever since our wedding we have enjoyed a wonderful marriage. Our personalities are perfect for eachother and we have so many similar interests - softball, watching Lakers games, playing board games, etc... - that we are more like two best friends that happen to be married to eachother. Our marriage is the greatest blessing of our lives and we have loved every minute of it!
