Kelly originally hails from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. She worked as a photographer for the New Glasgow Evening News (``Evening Snooze'') as her first career. She then pursued a degree in International Development Studies at St. Mary's University in Halifax. After graduating, she moved to Toronto to study theology. In Toronto, she met her husband Chris. She graduated from Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto with a Masters of Divinity. She was then divinely sent here to St. Paul.
