Hero Points
Each PC starts the game with 6 Hero Points. These points can be used to buy special skills (listed below), or can be used at any point during the game to alter one die roll during a particularly dramatic moment (GMs discretion). Points Skill Effect 5 Natural Affinity Character has a natural affinity for a particular skill to be determined by the GM. Skill is at level 4 and cannot be changed during game. 4 Natural Affinity Same as above but skill is at level 3. 4 Ambidextrous Can use either hand equally well. May fire 2 Pistols at the same time or with either hand. 4 Insight/Awareness Character is aware of things that normally would pass a normal person by. Skill functions like a heightened Observation skill with a particular emphasis on things that could help out the party in solving mysteries. 3 Quick Draw Can ready and fire a weapon from a holster in one action. 3 Sixth Sense Character is alerted to danger moments before anything happens. Treat character as unsurprisable and with automatic initiative. 3 Handsome/Beauty Character has a heightened level of personal beauty. Allow the character a bonus on any type of action which would have a bearing on this. 3 Heightened Sense-Sight Character has 20/10 vision. Can see farther and with greater clarity than a regular character. 3 " -Hearing Character has a particularly sharp sense of hearing. Allow a bonus on all rolls that might have a bearing on this. 3 " -Smell Character has a super sense of smell. Can recognize people by odor and could probably track someone given enough familiarity with that person. 3 " -Taste Character has a super sense of taste. Can recognize distinct tastes and could even determine chemicals by taste given enough practice and familiarity with the substances. 2 Sponsor/Friend Character has a sponsor who might be paying for his travels or a friend in high places who might provide the character with information on occasion or even a friendly loan. 1 Taunting-Creative Character has acquired a keen sense of taunting from bar room brawls or from a study of obtuse literature. 1 Swearing-Creative Character has acquired a keen sense of swearing from time in the army, on the docks, in seedy quarters, or in foreign places. 1 Taste in _______ Character has impeccable taste in one item, i.e. clothes, furniture, the opposite sex, food, wine, etc. 1 Pet Character has an unusual affection for a particular animal. 1 Fondness for _______ Much like the skill Taste in ____, only that the character has an appetite for a certain something. The GM can determine what the benefits or detriments from this item might be.
