Tribal Chick

I am fascinated by women's jewellery in Europe 1000-3000 years ago. Using replicas or digital-constructs I like to make photographs which show off these ancient fashions in an erotic way.

The last women on Earth to wear a style of clothing that was worn all over Europe were the Beduoin. This was a very wide cylinder of material, often called a "peplos". It was fastened at each shoulder with a brooch, and the sides hung down loosely barely, or sometimes not, concealing the breasts. Around 1910 French and German photographers photographed these women and produced many erotic postcards. Here are some of them, and they encapsulate what I am trying to do

The first step is photographing models wearing a peplos which is fastened with real, but replica jewellery. The peplos here is handwoven wool from India. The following are some of these initial shots.

Next step is the hard bit - I construct copies of real old jewellery from arcaheological records using 3D software on a computer, trying to make them look real, then add them to a photograph.

It's been a long, hard trip to get this far and I have a long ay to go yet, but here are some results so far:

This is just a personal interest thing for me just now, but might one day become a book. I'm looking for women 18-30 who are prepared to model in the above style. It takes about an hour and there is no real preparation needed. If you think you look just average - that's fine. Non-professionals are most welcome. I am based in St Lucia, Brisbane. I have no studio and my place is sub-optimal, so if you know where a nice, well-lit room, or back-yard is, so much the better. I'll get myself to you. If you are interested in modelling, drop me a line!
