This is Jenny. She was born April 26, 1999 and is a miniture American Eskimo. She has a birth defect that can be successfully corrected by surgery. The tube that goes from the kidneys to the bladder bypasses the bladder and connects directly to the urethra. So until we figure out who by and how the surgery is going to be done this little cutie gets to run around in Huggies diapers :-D We will keep you all posted on her progress. And of course we will keep posting new pictures of this little cutie.
*UPDATE 7/16/1999 Jenny has an appointment on July 29, 1999 to consult with the two doctors at Cottonwood Veterinary Hospitol to schedule her surgery and have the pre-surgery blood work done. We did not get a response from the vet schools we contacted for help but we have received a generous offer from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary to help pay for the surgery. So between Best Friends and all the generous people out there who have made donations, Jenny will be getting her surgery hopefully in August. We still need funds to help cover her medical cost so if you haven't made a donation and can spare a few dollars it will be greatly appreciated. Jenny will also be needing a forever home to love her as much as we do. So if anyone is interested in adopting her please go ahead and fill out an online adoption application for Heart Bandits and send it in to us. I will update everyone again after her doctor appointment. By the way Jenny is doing absolutely wonderful!! She is the most happy, cuddly, snuggly, puppy I have ever known. She is an absolute joy to have around. She will make someone a very happy eskie owner.
*UPDATE 8/5/1999 Jenny's surgery has been scheduled for August 18th. All of her blood test came back very well and the doctors believe the surgery will go well. They also tested to make sure she did not have any other congenital defects. The test came back saying she was perfectly healthy and normal. We are very excited. Jenny weighed in at 11.7 pounds and she is now almost 15 weeks old. We are still short on the funds to pay for her surgery though, so any donations you can spare would be greatly apprectiated.
*UPDATE 8/30/1999 Jenny had her surgery on August 18th and everything went great. She has been recovering wonderfully in the last twelve days and the vet says everything is looking good. We went to the vet today to have her stiches out and for a urinalysis. She weighed in at 15.4 pounds. She definately hasn't lost her appetite. It looks like she has a urinary track infection but nothing serious. A good ten days on antibiotics and she will be good as new. It will take two to three months to tell for sure how well the surgery went but the success rate is very high. I want to once again thank everyone who has made this possible. Jenny is a one of a kind and has touched the hearts of many. I will miss her once she has found a forever home. It will be hard to let this one go. But as you all know out there the more we find homes for the more we can save. I will update on her progress again in a couple weeks.
*UPDATE 10/28/1999 Jenny has fully recovered and is doing GREAT! She has moved to her new home in Northern California and has a great new family. She is so lucky to have a new big eskie brother named Flyno and her new mommy will be taking her to work with her a couple days each week to spend time with special needs kids. I couldn't have found a more wonderful family to give this very special little girl a wonderful life. If I get new pictures of her with her new family I will post them at this sight for everyone to enjoy. I want to thank everyone who helped make saving this little life possible. I especially want to thank the people on the eskie owners list. You all are wonderful!!
