CTF-EventHorizon will be the next big craze in online CTF games. In fact, it's sure to become a multiplayer staple map, along with Facing Worlds and LavaGiant. If you're a server operator, be sure to add this one to your map cycle!

Textures

The texture work in this level is nothing short of magnificent. The original textures really add to the level's unique look and feel. Everything seems to match realistically. The only odd texture I encountered was the bumblebee accelerator tube -- sure, the texture's pan gives it the idea of movement... but the color doesn't quite match the rest of the level. Other than that, there are no noticeable texture flaws or mismatches.

Geometry

Awesome. Complex brushes, perfect intersection and deintersection, and very complementary to the textures. No geometry errors, HOMs or BSP holes. A treat to walk on!

Lighting

The author makes wonderful use of colored and dynamic lighting in this map. The red base has a reddish tint whereas the blue base has its bluish color. Everything is very well lit. It is not a dark level; rather you can see everything relatively clearly, which makes for good gameplay.

Snipers

There are twin sniper positions above each base, looking down upon the main thoroughfare between the bases. You can easily pick off anybody running or flying back and forth, but the chance of them noticing you is very high. When sniping from this point, you need to keep a close eye on the teleporter behind you and make sure nobody's coming through -- if they do, you're history.

Gameplay

The map has a low-enough poly count which allows for faster gameplay. The game flow is balanced very well for both teams. Gravity is divided in this level: outside the building, there is very low gravity, but inside the base, it's normal. This also helps to balance the level out; it also provides an excellent change-up every time you go outside! The pain and kill zones are placed in odd places. Don't try and land on top of the other base from midair outside or you may fry. The strange positioning of these items will most likely throw you off, but eventually you should know where you can and can't land.

The bottom line

This map is REALLY COOL! It's also different and professionally built. UTUG suggests you download this precious map soon and learn the ins and outs of it before everybody else does!

Killer job, Plutonic and Whit!
