HARVEST TIME
Leaves of crimson swirl like a rainbow caught
by the pull of gravity from the earth's drain pipe.
Edges of grass are curling up like kittens, taking
a nap, getting ready to sleep for a time;
Contentment.
Pumpkins lie like cinderella's coaches among the
twisted, knarly vines just waiting for someone to claim them and with intent
imagination;
Create.
Friendly greetings to your neighbor is caught
up with fog like gasps of breath as you talk. Children are awed at the scene
by seeing their words pop out of their months and they play;
Pretend.
Smell the scents of burning leaves; Feel the crispness
of the oncoming winter; Listen to the honking, swishing and flapping of the
geese flying in perfect V formation overhead;
Unconstrained.
A time of harvest, bountiful gifts from God. A
time to reflect, slow down and to realize that the most precious of things
to have are all around us;
