Marie Osmond

Here is another report that I did for school. I had to do it on a person I admire, but my teacher said I couldn't do Donny. That is why I did Marie. I also felt that there should be a page about Marie, because if Marie weren't around there would be no Donny & Marie show!! I hope that you like it!! Marie Osmond is one of the most amazing people alive. She was born on October 13, 1959, into a very famous family, the Osmonds. At the young age of three, Marie made her first tv debut. She was on the Andy Williams Show, which was the show that her brothers frequently performed on. Even though she had become known to the world at such a young age, the next time she performed for an audience wasn't until she released her first hit song, "Paper Roses", at the age of thirteen. It later became the first #1 country hit by a female artist, of all time. Later she teamed up with her brother, Donny, and together they made their first hit record, "I'm Leaving It All Up To You." This opened up a world of opportunities for Marie, including her own show, and many more hit songs with Donny. In 1976, Donny and Marie became names that were known all over the world. On January 23, 1976, both Donny and Marie started their show, which aired for three years. When the show ended, Donny and Marie took separate paths. Marie is now a mother of seven, the co-founder of The Children's Miracle Network, and is now starring in an all new series of Donny and Marie. Along the way, she has also starred in the movie "Goin' Coconuts", with Donny, "Side by Side", the true story of the Osmond family, in which she played her mother, and she did work in children's films such as "Hugo the Hippo", "The Gift of Love", "I Married Wyatt Earp", "The Velveteen Rabbit", and "Rose-Petal Place-Real Friends". She also expanded her career when she starred in Roger and Hammerstein's "Sound of Music", with the leading role of Maria. Marie also performed in "The King and I", which was her first Broadway musical playing the role of Anna. But, above everything, Marie feels her biggest accomplishments are being a mother and supporting the Children's Miracle Network. She not only is a supporter of the Children's Miracle Network, but she is also the co-sponsor and co-founder of it. This organization has raised over 1.4 billion dollars since 1983, and is continuing to raise money for children all over the world. She hopes not only to raise more money for sick children, but to also further expand her career. We can only guess what she will try to do next. She has starred on Broadway, had her own show, has been on millions of tours, released her own records, has helped charities, who knows! Maybe she will try to be in more movies!
