The Sea

Like a restless woman,
Ever moving, ever changing,
Undulating,
Her unknown depths
An emerald and blue enigma.

Living and everywhere,
Giving life and taking it,
Unexpectedly and with passion,
With legendary skill
And surprising speed.

Rocks are beaten mercilessly,
Land crumbles and falls.
Slowly, slowly, patiently,
The water claims its own,
Selfishly, unendingly.

Sometimes she sleeps,
As still as glass, she sleeps,
Sparkling and calm.
Waiting for another victim,
Perhaps, another victim.
