Children Were Born to be Happy and Free
A cataclysm of the senses,
Taste the fear as it condenses.
Abhor the power, fear the end,
Run in panic around the bend.
Leave them safe and warm near me,
Children were born to be happy and free.
Why should young ones have to suffer,
Be abused and be a buffer,
Against the inadequacies of life,
Quickly turning love to strife.
Give them no pain, can you not see,
Children were born to be happy and free.
The children, they are not to blame,
But still they carry pain and shame,
For evermore, until they die,
They know, they see, but can’t say why.
It could have been you, or maybe me,
Children were born to be happy and free.
Give them all the gift of life,
Leave out the pain and hopeless strife.
Let them be loved, in tender care,
Help them to grow, always be there,
When they need you, for it’s plain to see,
Children were born to be happy and free.
