The difficult part is to try and determine just what can be changed and what can not. Even those scenarios which can not be changed may nevertheless be 'delayed' so that preparations might be made to minimize the effect of these events by allowing time to prepare for them in advance. A wise response to these warnings or encouragements would be to "hope for the best but prepare for the worst", for instance on the one hand prepare the supplies, tools, and knowledge needed to live independently from the 'system' in the event that the system fails; yet at the same time prepare for one's academic, financial, and social security for oneself and their posterity in the event that the system continues for some time into the future.
The key word here is BALANCE, since when there are two choices to make, the answer may not necessarily always be the left or the right hand path, but rather the middle path, or the "golden mean" as the Greeks refered to it... the balanced path between two extremes.
