During the eighteen months they worked together in the personnel department, Zoe fell in love Andy. Everyone who worked with them wondered if Andy failed to notice or failed to care. Frankly, we never cold figure out which.
"Goodnite, Andy" Zoe sang sweetly that same night as they walked together to the parking lot.
He mumbled something in response, but it was lost in the din of the migrating workers shuffling to their cars.
"I guess I will see you on Monday then." she offered timidly before she turned and walked away.
Just then, Andy did the most uncharacteristic thing. Knifing his way through the mob, he circled around and blocked Zoe's path. "Love has reasons that reason can never know." he stated plainly.
Men and women in grey suits jostled them as they stood there, eyes locked together.
"Now, please, leave me alone." he begged as the five o'clock crowd swallowed him whole.
Ordinarily, that would have been enough to discourage Zoe. Part of her really did want to give up, but the next thing she knew she was back in her office staring at her computer screen. Quickly she scanned for Andy's file.
Right away she found it and her heart sank. She discovered the telephone number entry had been left blank. There was however, an address.
Unfortunately for Andy, he was already home and in the middle of his routine. Venetian blinds were closed tight, television sets and VCR's were powered up, music was turned up and clothes were thrown in a heap on the floor.
When Zoe arrived a half hour later, no one answered her knock, so, hearing music, she peeked in throught the front door.
X-rated videos competed for attention on multiple screens around the room. Yanni blared from a CD player beside the sofa, upon which Andy laid, asleep and naked.
Zoe quietly backed out, shut the door and chanced a look at her hand.
