MDs

I give it to the end of the season.

It's certainly not that it's a bad show (I don't make pages for bad shows), it's just that I like it. Something always happens to shows I like. Do you remember what the last new show I watched was? I didn't think so; it wasn't on long. It was a wonderful little show called Undeclared about a bunch of college students. When was the last time you thought about that?

Anyhow, MDs is about a Los Angeles hospital (::gasp!:: what a revolutionary concept!); specifically a couple of smart-alec doctors who work at said hospital. There are stingy insurance reps, generous interns, straight-laced RNs, volunteers who dole out marijuana, and everything in between. But my favourites characters are certainly Doctors Robert Dalgety (John Hannah - The Mummy, Sliding Doors) and Bruce Kellerman (William Fichtner - Armageddon, Equilibrium), aforementioned smart-alec doctors.

The two bring a good deal of sarcastic, dry humour to the show, which is often quite dramatic and dark and really needs that little bit of a lighter tone. This is certainly not to say that the good doctors are clowns - absolutely not. You can't be a successful trauma surgeon/head of Cardio-Thoracic without having some degree of sincerity. Not to mention what they put Dalgety through in the first couple of episodes...

ANYway... John Hannah is The Man, and it's his fault that I started watching the show. I was flipping through the TV Guide one day at the beginning of the 2002 fall season and ran across a picture of him and Fichtner. I stopped. I said, "Hey, that looks like John Hannah. I read the caption. I said, "Hey, it IS John Hannah." I thought, "Hey, John Hannah's got a new show. He's awesome. I should watch it." So I did.

And here we are. Funny how that happens. So, your mission, should you chose to accept it (or even if you don't), is to watch MDs every Wednesday at 10 PM on ABC, especially, and let me make this absolutely clear, ESPECIALLY if you are one of the Nielson families that week.

MDs was created by Gary Tieche, directed by Michael Hoffman, and produced by René Echevarria and Marc E. Platt.

Sarcastic healthcare professionals for everyone.
