Aaahh! Real Monsters

The_Terrifying_Trio

Through the washing machine door, into the birdcage elevator, down the shaft, into an underground world of...monsters?!?

Living in the dump, young monsters go to school at the renowned Monster Academy. Their teacher is the Gromble (Gregg Berger), a stickler for rules: more boring than your 8th grade science teacher, more evil than your 7th grade history teacher, more terrifying than your off-season coach (not that I'm insinuating anything...). If his students break any rules, it's off to the Snorch (David Eccles), a mute Cyclops who delights in torturing students with his opera or polka muzak. His companion is an evil, one-legged bee named Zimbo (Tim Curry) who uses his "buddy" as a perch.

These monsters' diet consists mostly of garbage and toxic waste, and they thrive off of air pollution. In other words, what's bad for the environment is good for monsters. They don't seem to like their cafeteria food, either. I believe that evil cafeteria ladies exchange the monster food for human food at night (so sorry if their are any cafeteria ladies reading this ;).

The show follows Ickis, Oblina, and Krumm (a putrid smelling, yet kind natured beast who holds his eyes in his hands. His voice is provided by David Eccles) through all of their adventures in scaring the day lights out of humans.

Their only enemies to speak of are Simon the Monster Hunter (James Belushi) and the fearsome Bark-and-Bites. And who wouldn't be afraid of a large, hairy animal with a powerful tail and sharp, pointy teeth whose soul purpose is to protect the human they lead around by a leash? Other problems they face are perfume, garbage strikes, and the dreaded Nolox (a horrible case of the hiccups in which the poor monster begins hiccupping up garbage).

Aaahh! Real Monsters is a Klasky-Csupo production. It comes on at 11:30 AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings on Nickelodeon.
