Hello...Nice To Meet You!

How Do You Do?

In case you are wondering who the old Dragon is behind the AWMA Black DragonFem, here is a brief synopsis of my stats:

1.) Age: Antique
2.) Sex: Female
3.) Weight: Freighter class
4.) Height: A little shorter than John Stockton and a lot taller than Willow
5.) Eyes: Both still there, thank Heaven!
6.) Hair: That's still there, too...
7.) Children: Still alive, no thanks to my mothering...
8.) Star Sign: Virgo...(bossy, picky, and particular...)

Actually, I'm just your run-of-the-mill, not-so-little old lady who started in the martial arts at the ripe old age of 45...and have managed to survive to an even riper old age...and I'm not about to admit HOW old...

(I have had numerous requests for a photo of myself, and so I am bending to pressure and showing the world what the Dragon Lady Looks like! Enter here at your own risk! After you visit, you must hit the "back" button on your browser, or you will forever be lost in the labyrinth of other page links on my many pages out there in Cyber Land!)

Thank the lord for a sense of humor and long-suffering patience. (That's my teacher...not me!) My grown up kids think I'm a bit of an oddity. My oldest son was once caught saying to the neighbor, "My Mom can beat up your dad!" Well, of COURSE I could! His dad was 86! Just get me past those wildly flailing crutches, and I'll whomp the old bugger!

Seriously, though, Karate has been a wonderful pasttime...far better than crocheting doilies or making jello salads for the family reunion. As you can probably guess, housework is a hobby to me...I get around to it once a month or so for a few minutes. That is...if I can find a few minutes to waste on such frivolous activity.

I have been referred to as the weirdest mommy in the world...but only by other people's children. Mine have had quite a healthy respect for me since I learned to use the long bo...

For about 15 years, I traveled the USA as writer and photojournalist for the National Black Belt League and Sport Karate International Amateur League's magazine. I had a wonderful time meeting thousands of people in the martial arts, and working with hundreds of the top competitors in the world!

I have also written several articles for other martial arts magazines, and my photos of martial artists have appeared in numerous sport karate periodicals. I enjoy photography, writing about people, and traveling...and karate has provided me with years of fun and good company!

If I hold out another 10 years, I'll write my memoirs! (But don't hold your breath, 'cuz I am slow.)
